A Tale of Two Nines

Mature forests on the front nine, links style on the back nine.

Heritage Hills boasts the best of both worlds. It extends to 6,800 yards of championship golf and plays at 5,400 yards using the forward tees.

Our front nine takes the golfer through the mature forest of Oro Medonte. The First hole is tree lined. It gives the impression of being tighter than it is. Hole one sets you up for the adventure that will challenge you for the next four hours. You will wonder what the difference is. The absence of noise, no houses or roads to distract you. Just the natural mature beauty of a pristine golf course.  After making it to the seventh tee, you are presented with a beautiful, lofty view of the seventh fairway. Your drive will require a solid hit, across the creek to a generous landing area, only to be faced with an elevated green protected by 3 daunting sand traps.

The Back nine gives the golfer the feeling of a links course. Both the length and Mother Nature combat the open layout. The course is never the same when you play here. The wind always plays a major part in choosing the right club for each shot.

If you think you have it going, the par 4, 17th hole (green pictured below) will challenge your control of distance. It requires a pure drive straight down the fairway, on the right side you will be blocked by trees, forcing a lay up. Left, if you are lucky enough to avoid the sand traps, you’ll find yourself in deep rough. Your second shot, a short iron in will make any golfer question their selection. If you are short, you will roll down in the creek and long puts you into a treed jail.

The staff at Heritage Hills are always polite and friendly. The Proshop is well stocked with everything from golf apparel to golf gloves and balls. The food is great and the beer is cold!

The driving range is also available for a warm up bucket or to refine you swing.
